Detailed Itinerary Day 2: We will leave, by bus, in the morning on route to the Kruger National Park, where we will spend the night in a rustic chalet camp. On route to the KNP we will stop at various places of interest to bring you in touch with the African lifestyle in specific to South Africa. Day 3: Early morning we will head out to the South Africa/ Mosambique border post. This is an informal border post and not a lot of time should be spent here. No illegal substances are permitted and the chances of being searched exists. You will get introduced to your ATV's and the all your baggage will be loaded on our backup truck. We will leave from the border post on a road that leads us to the Limpopo River. We will refuel at the Limpopo river as we will split from the truck. The truck will travel on the road and we will head downstream for approximately 80 kilometres (50 miles) where we will meet up with the truck for a cooked lunch and some gas for the bikes. From the lunch point we will head towards the village of Machaela for our overnight stop. The total distance travelled for our first day in the saddle will be approximately 250 kilometres (160 miles). On our first night in the bush we will sleep in a tent camp where a shower will be provided and we will enjoy a true South African bush dinner which had been cooked over the fire. We can crawl into bed early or we could sit outside and enjoy the stars and milky way as only Africa can provide. There are no electricity in these parts and therefore the nights are clear and beautiful. I have never seen stars as bright as in these parts. Day 4: We will rise early to catch a glimpse of the sunrise and after breakfast we will head out towards the town of Mabote. We will go through villages of a few huts to a full village where the Portuguese architecture is prelevant. We will go through Mopani and Fever tree forests ( you will have to come on the tour to find out why they are called fever trees). Thick sand, water, black turf and rocky sections can be expected along this route. We will again sleep in the bush with the same hospitality that was experienced the previous night. The distance traveled will be in the region of 220 kilometres (138 miles). Day 5: This is a fairly short day as we only will travel about 130 kilometres (82 miles) into the town of Vilancoulos. This is not the most exiting part of the tour but at least we are able to enjoy the remoteness of this part of Africa but with a sense that we are closing in on some civilization. We will arrive in Vilancoulos in a convoy which will make the locals stop and look. We will be staying in a rustic campsite with proper beds and showers. You can either relax the rest of the day or we can start exploring the vibrant town of Vilancoulos. Our clothes can be handed in for washing and we can enjoy the seaside from our place of residence for the next few days. Day 6: As our bodies will be tired we can have a late breakfast and start with a full education into all the pubs and lodges along the coast line of Vilancoulos. When we return to the chalets we will be fully revived and we will enjoy the walk to the restaurant where we will be treated to the seafood dinner. We will hit the sack early or late and depending on your own body. The area is very safe and you can return to the lodging on your own. Day 7:We will journey to Bazaruto island for some snorkeling or just enjoying the beautiful sand and beaches. This is a full day trip and we will return late afternoon. Some of the best tropical snorkeling can be experienced around this island. Day 8: Our group will depart fairly early after a healthy breakfast and we will head up to the point of Bartholomew Diaz where we will enjoy beach and sand riding that you have never experienced. Our total distance for the day will be around 200 kilometres (125 miles) . We will camp out close to the river Save on the first night of our return journey. Day 9: The ATV's will be started early as we are heading back towards the town of Mabote but on a road less traveled. We will sleep in the bush under the African stars at one of our previous campsites. The total distance for this day would be around 220 kilometres (138 miles). Day 10: From this point the return journey will be along the same route as our original journey but with a different perspective. Roads do not look the same in a different direction and you will experience different sites with a new outlook. Distance traveled will be approximately 250 kilometres (160 miles). Day 11: We are heading back to the border post and we will arrive early afternoon. The Limpopo river section has been removed from this day as it consumes too much time. We will ride next to the Limpopo and arrive before the truck at the border post where we will enjoy a cold frosty (drink) in the pub at the post. We will cross into South Africa and we will start loading the bus, which should be waiting for us, and we will head out to the KNP campsite where we slept 9 days ago. Day 12: We will have an early start to the day as we need to get back to Johannesburg. We have an excellent chance to see elephant, lion, cheetah, and some other wild animals while we are driving through the KNP. Tonight we will see the city lights of Jozi and we can relax in true civilization. In Shumba Lodge we will hold the reward ceremony and we will have a lot of laughter's and tears of joy. Day 13: We bid our group farewell and you will be transported to the airport both tired and rested completely. This itinerary can be affected by various conditions like animal migration, floods and various other factors but we can still promise you get to Vilancoulos and back to Pafuri in the same time as planned. This will ensure that you make your airline connections.
GSM Mobile phones work up to the Kruger National Park and in Vilancoulos. We have a satellite phone with us in case of an emergency. WHAT WE SUPPLY
