Tahuya State Forest.

April gave us an unexpected gift of a warm sunny day for our April's Fool tour. One of our returning clients rounded up six of his friends for an outstanding day of ATV riding.

This group chose Belfair State Forest for their riding pleasure. As we drove though the early morning fog, some began to question if Belfair was the best choice. But as we drove into the Sand Pit parking lot, all of the fog had disappeared. Our returning riders quickly claimed their mounts and assistant guide Greg lead them away into the woods for a leisurely introduction. The new riders and Instructor Les, set up the basic rider course and dived into the instruction. The 14 lessons flew buy and by noon, everyone was training and raring to trail ride.

After a magnificent box lunch from Larry's Market catering, we refueled the ATVs and hit the trail. Since we had to avoid an enduro course, we turned East from the Sand Pit and selected sections of the Overland trail. We followed this trail for almost three hours, as it wound through the Northeastern section of the State Forest. An occasional enduro rider blasted past, and once a family on dirt bikes, but we basically had the trail to ourselves. The glacial till trails were a treat to ride, firm yet giving. The occasional mud puddle had a firm bottom and gave us no troubles. A short run up the connector road, led us back to the vehicles and a break to romp in the gravel pit and the large pond in the middle. Several people tested the fenders of the ATVs they were riding.

After our afternoon break, we did several loops around the yellow diamond trail, picking up confidence and speed with each loop. A couple of loops back to the gravel pit and one last circuit of the yellow diamond loop, wrapped up this perfect ATV outing. Check out these pictures!
